Not every intercom with a camera is built for a high-end property. We recommend checking these points before you buy:
- Weather and vandal rating — outdoor stations should be rated for the British climate and tamper-resistant.
- Night vision and wide dynamic range — so a visitor backlit by low sun or porch lights is still visible.
- Two-way video — some systems only send video one way. Make sure the indoor monitor or phone can also show your camera if you want the visitor to see you.

Will a video intercom call my mobile phone?

Can the same system work in a block of flats?
Absolutely. Multi-tenant panels can be scaled from a small conversion with two flats up to a large development with dozens of apartments. Calls can ring a wall monitor, a handset or a smartphone app, and the concierge or building manager can have a master station.
What happens if the broadband goes down?
A well-designed system still lets you answer and release the door locally, even if the mobile-app feature is temporarily unavailable.
