Getting the category right
An L1 system covers every room; an L2 covers escape routes plus higher-risk areas; an L3 covers escape routes and adjoining rooms; a P1 or P2 system protects property rather than life. Many buildings we survey have been sold a category above what the risk assessment requires — and a handful, usually those with sleeping risk, have been sold one below.
We read your fire risk assessment first, then specify. If a smaller system will do the job, we will say so in writing.
